These are projects where the comfort and well-being of the users are central. At EEG Group, we undertake with respect for people, the environment, and society. Our tagline "We add life to buildings" perfectly reflects what we stand for: we literally bring buildings to life by providing air, heat, water, and light, in short, all the elements we need day in and day out to lead a comfortable life.
For 90 years, EEG Group has taken on the responsibility of making buildings as comfortable as possible. Today, we make buildings future-proof: we consciously choose high-tech systems and workable techniques to ensure buildings remain high-performing. Together with our clients, we are building a future where technology and sustainability reinforce each other so that today's and tomorrow's generations can enjoy optimal living comfort.
Today, our impact is most felt in the healthcare sector: in more than 90% of Belgian hospitals, EEG Group has been responsible for the installation, integration, or renovation of technologies, resulting in more comfort for staff, patients, and visitors.
Our unique, sustainable approach also materializes in the use of environmentally friendly materials, in seeking the most sustainable ways of working and solutions such as prefabrication and modular construction, in systematically applying a waste prevention and waste reduction policy, in choosing sustainable means of transport, and in reducing the CO2 footprint by focusing on off-site prefabricated production of certain elements.
On a human level, EEG Group also commits to a socially responsible and respectful way of doing business: training, diversity and inclusion, safety and health in the workplace, and community spirit are also central to EEG Group's philosophy.
This is thanks to a data-driven approach to building management and maintenance, and a specially established service called 'Facility Management'.
EEG Group has developed expertise in creating designs entirely in BIM (Building Information Modeling), and modular construction, where more and more elements are prefabricated in their own workshop, is a strategy that contributes to efficient cost management.
Step by step towards a more sustainable future
Sustainability in a technical environment?
At EEG, we make it tangible every day, with both small and big steps.
Our new sustainability report shows how, in 2024, we continued to drive structural sustainability, with measurable results to prove it. For example, our CO₂ emissions decreased by 7.7% compared to 2022. We remain on track toward our goal of a 25% reduction by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. Achieving level 3 certification on the CO₂ Performance Ladder is an important milestone in this journey.
In the report, you will discover how we are building a future that goes beyond today through electrification, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.

Two multi-T projects were completed for the Jan Yperman Hospital.
On the main campus in Ypres, the construction of the K-block was realized. This building includes the new child psychiatry department 'Twoape', the geriatrics department relocating from Wervik, and the dialysis department. The latter replaces the existing outdated dialysis unit and comprises 40 zones.
During the preliminary phase, strong emphasis was placed on coordination and BIM across various branches, positively impacting project productivity. The installation itself features a new boiler room, 2 air handling units, one ALSB, and 5 distribution boards, one of which is dedicated to dialysis with 34 isolation transformers.
During execution, Jan Yperman placed an order for the multi-technical project in Diksmuide. Here, the old swimming pool was transformed into a medical center with a dialysis department (14 zones) and radiology. This project started from scratch with concept studies (bill of quantities, plans, diagrams, etc.), ultimately delivering the project in a 7-month period. It showcased remarkable coordination, communication, and planning, especially considering the technical challenges of converting an old swimming pool. For instance, the 2 air handling units, boiler room, and emergency power group were installed beneath the existing pool basin. Additionally, a high-voltage cabin and 2 cooling units were installed to provide necessary electrical power and heating/cooling capacities.
This multi-T project involved EEG Gullegem, EEG Sint-Martens-Latem, Beltherm, and Heyer branches.
For the Jan Yperman Hospital, two multi-T projects have been completed: the K-block in Ypres with new departments for child psychiatry, geriatrics, and dialysis, and the transformation of an old swimming pool in Diksmuide into a medical center with dialysis and radiology facilities. A fully automated high-rise warehouse for storage and distribution company Dematra from Nazareth. The warehouse stands 46 meters tall and can accommodate 80,000 pallets. It can move 12,000 pallets within 24 hours, marking an international first.
Due to its height, the warehouse occupies only 10,000 square meters. Without building vertically, it would require 5 to 6 hectares of space, significantly reducing its ecological footprint.
Several challenges made this project complex, including:
- Installing ducts and ring mains at heights reaching up to 42 meters.
- Placing ducts within Stow racks, with just 1 hour allocated for assembly.
- Air conditioning the high-rise structure; the warehouse can cool products to 13°C using 10 air handling units capable of delivering 20,000 cubic meters of air per hour.
This multi-T project is executed by Beltherm and EEG Sint-Martens-Latem branches, subcontracted by Alheembouw.
Works performed include:
- Supplying and installing ventilation ducts and air handling units.
- Cooling and heating for the high-rise and picking zone, along with complete automation and monitoring using highly innovative techniques.
- Using 80 fan coil units and 11 air handling units, in conjunction with approximately 1MW reversible heat pumps, ensuring constant indoor climate control.

AZ Monica Antwerp
In early January 2024, the new hospital wing at the AZ Monica campus in Antwerp was opened. This wing includes, among other things, twelve operating rooms and mainly focuses on specialized care. For this purpose, the former nuclear medicine department, the old chapel, and the monastery, all dating back to the 1930s, were demolished.
EEG Medical / Heyer was responsible for laying an entirely new network for medical gases.
This very complex achievement was a fine accomplishment from start to finish and included:
The installation of a brand new vacuum central system
The establishment of a modern compressed air central system
The relocation of sources for oxygen, compressed air, and laughing gas
The installation of 19 bed rails
The laying of approximately 7 kilometers of pipelines
The installation of 24 pendants in the 12 operating rooms
12 pendants in the recovery room
The installation of 17 shut-off cabinets
The laying of pipelines on the exterior facade using a tower crane
The installation of emergency sources
The coordination of placing a new oxygen tank
The challenge was significantly increased by the unique architecture of the building, which takes on an arch shape. Laying pipelines within such a structure required creative solutions, such as the use of a 90°-90° system for large-diameter pipelines.
This project was not only a showcase of great craftsmanship but also a testament to excellence in planning and execution.

De Kock BV is carrying out a number of thorough renovations to the HVAC system in the deSingel building.
This renovation covers both the heating part and the ventilation.
The challenge here is to achieve a perfect climate in some rooms, such as the archive where musical scores and books are kept, where the right humidity is extremely important.
To meet these requirements, we opted for adiabatic humidification. By means of a Reverse Osmosis plant (Ro plant), we atomise treated water in the ventilation air, thereby guaranteeing the desired humidity level.
Furthermore, the collectors are renewed and we install an automatic control that regulates both the new and the old installation.

THE MANY ADVANTAGES OF PREFABRICATION
The prefabrication department at EEG Group has now been operating for almost a year. During this period, the group has experienced the benefits of prefabrication in various aspects: • Better for people: Prefabrication moves installation work from the construction site to a workshop, reducing the impact of weather and working conditions, traffic, and delays. It also provides opportunities for less technically skilled workers to develop under the supervision of experienced colleagues. • Better for the environment: Prefabrication minimizes short and small transports to the site by transporting larger elements more efficiently. This results in less waste and better reuse of materials. • Better for the client: Prefabrication reduces the margin of error. Each prefabricated module undergoes strict quality control before being transported to the site.
Although these advantages may seem simple at first glance, prefab activities in practice require thorough study, coordination, and consultation with both clients and general contractors.
VARIOUS ELEMENTS
The in-house prefabrication department, located at EEG’s premises in Gavere, has played a significant role in various projects of the EEG Group over the past year. Maarten Nuytten, COO of EEG Group, is pleased with the contribution the department has made so far:
“With our prefabrication department, we have already made numerous construction projects more efficient. We have manufactured over 200 prefab modules for various new construction projects, including w.e.s.t in Roeselare and Stenehof in Ostend. Soon, we will begin prefabricating 220 energy modules for a residential project in Brussels. Additionally, we manufacture prefab sprinkler installations and complete technical rooms, such as those for the energy production of the Landmark building of UZ Brussels. The versatility of our prefabrication department is a positive development.”
T3-TECHNIQUE SHAFTS
The prefabrication department of EEG Group is currently operating at full capacity. For the Arresthuis in Antwerp, EEG Group is prefabricating 44 T3-technique shafts. These shafts contain the techniques for three floors. They are prefabricated in vertical frames measuring 11.5 meters high, 3 meters wide, and 50 centimeters deep. The techniques include sprinkler pipes, ventilation, hot/cold water, sanitary drainage, flushing tanks, faucets, cable trays, and distribution boards, as well as sensors for measuring humidity. In mid-June, these shafts will be transported to Antwerp and assembled on-site.
CONTROL OF THE ENTIRE PROCESS: FROM BIM DESIGN TO ASSEMBLY
For Maarten Nuytten, COO of EEG Group, prefabrication goes beyond merely pre-assembling building elements. “It is an approach driven by our focus on sustainable construction. We start with BIM for digital and modular design, create the right conditions to realize the techniques in prefab, and are ultimately responsible for the assembly of the prefabricated elements on the site.” What makes this process unique is that EEG Group manages and coordinates all steps, even in complex projects.
CEO Didier Vanden Broucke is delighted with the evolution of the in-house prefabrication department: “Thanks to our own prefabrication department, we have been able to make a difference in many new construction projects over the past year. Our focus on design & build projects and our expertise in multi-techniques will certainly help us to use our prefabrication department even more efficiently. Prefabrication offers endless possibilities. For us, it is clear that prefabrication is the next step in our strategy to be a multi-technical integrator and a discussion partner for clients. We are convinced that all parties involved in the construction process will need to think and collaborate differently.
Prefabrication requires clear decisions at an early stage of the construction process. Once prefabrication has started, changes are no longer possible. The prefabrication of large modules will be increasingly applied. The time when techniques were brought to the construction site as separate components is over. The next step is the industrialization of the construction process, which benefits all parties involved, as well as the quality, budget, and planning. EEG is more than ready to take that next step.”
Gullegem, 1 June 2024 – About a year ago, EEG Group launched its own fully-fledged prefabrication department. The construction group made this decision based on the observation that prefabrication offers numerous advantages in terms of time management, team cohesion, and logistics. A year later, EEG Group can look back on several notable achievements that have been completed very efficiently thanks to prefabrication.

How Lars discovered EEG
For many young engineers, graduation marks the beginning of a major search: where do I start my career? Which companies offer not only an exciting job, but also growth opportunities? You are looking for a place where your skills, knowledge and future prospects can grow with you.
In June 2024, Lars Vergote graduated as an engineer in electromechanics from VIVES Kortrijk. His search began earlier, in February, at the job fair in Kortrijk Xpo.
"At this fair, EEG's innovative approach immediately caught my eye. I saw how strongly they were committed to sustainability and forward-looking technologies, something that is becoming increasingly important in this day and age."
From application to first day at work: smooth and efficient
Lars applied immediately after graduation through the EEG website. "Within a week I had Céline, a nice recruiter at EEG Sint-Martens-Latem, on the line. A few days later followed a second interview with Ronny, my future supervisor."
For Lars, this was a gamechanger. "It made me feel good right away that I met with my immediate supervisor so early in the process. Everything became more personal and showed how EEG is committed to a warm and smooth start for young starters."
On Aug. 18, 2024, Lars officially started at EEG. The first few days were all about smooth integration: a tour, understanding the company structure and how the different branches work together. "From day one, my colleague and mentor Jasper was there to guide me."
What does a concept engineer do at EEG?
"As a concept engineer, I design HVAC and plumbing systems from scratch. That means I don’t just look at the technical side, but also include the practical implementation."
His biggest project to date? The hvac and sanitary installation for a residential care center in Blankenberge. "Together with Jasper, I worked closely with the engineering firm and the structural contractor. I was in charge of sketching the plans, which were later developed further by the drawing office. It is special as a young concept engineer to be so involved in a project that greatly improves the comfort of assisted living facility residents."
A learning curve to say hello to
"What surprised me the most is how quickly you learn here. I gained more practical knowledge in six months than I did in three years of school."
EEG organizes in-house training to quickly familiarize young engineers with the various techniques that the company uses to make a difference for numerous clients. "Since October, I have been getting weekly training sessions with Jasper. For example, he already taught me a lot about gas standards and legislation. Those sessions help me assess situations better and get ahead of problems."
With 850 employees and multiple branches, EEG is all about cooperation, Lars notes in his regular contacts with EEG Gullegem (electricity) and Beltherm (ventilation and air technology). Close collaboration doesn’t simply help engineers in their own expertise, but also to see the broader picture. That is one of the reasons EEG is so strong in the Belgian market.
The perfect match: independence & confidence
"At EEG you not only get the chance to learn a lot, but also to become more independent. In the beginning, my mentor helped me where needed, but now I have the confidence to tackle things on my own. In the first quarter of 2025, I will have my first feedback call, where we will discuss my progress and new goals. For example, one of my first independent projects will be a boiler room renovation, which I get to work out entirely on my own."
Working at EEG: a warm and pleasant working atmosphere
EEG also stimulates team spirit. After more than six months, Lars feels completely at home in his team. Thanks to activities such as dart tournaments, bowling and go-karting, he quickly got to know his colleagues.
“Maintaining a good work-life balance is definitely a focus point here. Working from home is possible, but the nice working atmosphere and learning environment make me love being in the office. The flexible hours allow me to smoothly combine my job with my hobbies: basketball, youth movement and indoor football."
Lars does not just appreciate the interesting job content and nice team atmosphere, but also the many benefits at EEG. In addition to an electric VW ID3 with charging pass, a laptop and smartphone and meal vouchers, he benefits from an extensive benefits package, including a bicycle lease, group and hospitalization insurance and discounts at amusement parks.
A promising future at EEG
"After six months at EEG, I'm sure this is the perfect start to my career. The support here has made me grow tremendously as a professional. I have made valuable connections that will be beneficial to my career. I look forward to building my career at EEG and learning so much more."

AZ Alma in Eeklo decided a few years ago to make their technical installations more stable and to guarantee and optimise their operational functioning, via the building management system. So we started a service trajectory for the management of their technical installations. Subsequently, AZ Alma also wanted to manage and increase the efficiency of the installation.
Does the installation perform as intended in the design? Is consumption as expected? It became a growth trajectory, not only for AZ Alma but also for Digital Building Solutions. There is a lot of technology in a modern hospital, and it is a huge task to manage it. Although we have experience in this sector, we now know that every hospital is different. Each project is unique. At AZ Alma, a great many techniques are combined, resulting in a rather complex installation.
Digital Building Solutions, a partner matched with AZ Alma’s expectations
Bruno Decraene, Technical Infrastructure Officer at AZ Alma: “We have a lot of in-house technical knowledge, but the size of our installation was so large that we were looking for a specialised party who could offer a customised process. The accessibility, expertise and flexibility of Digital Building Solutions was great added value for us and the reason why we didn’t want to work with an international player.”
For Digital Building Solutions, a relationship based on trust with the customer is very valuable. Thanks to the technical knowledge within AZ Alma and the analysis of the users, we can use our software very efficiently. Users know the building best, so their information is very important. The interaction between users and Digital Building Solutions works well because both parties are on the same wavelength. Open communication is essential, and it’s no coincidence that this is one of the values that EEG Group stands for.
Bruno Decraene: “The relationship between AZ Alma and Digital Building Solutions is more than just a collaboration; it’s a real partnership. We are very satisfied with where we are today and look forward to continuing on this path together.”
Digital Building Solutions, service with a plus
Thomas Verstaen, DBS Manager: “For complex installations, we go for service with a plus. We want to be flexible and maintain close contact with the customer. We can respond quickly; our speed is our biggest asset here. Flexibility, close cooperation and speed of intervention are not included in the partnership agreement, but for us these elements are a no-brainer."
Once the customer has built up sufficient technical knowledge of the installation and has confidence in the operation of the installation, the next step in the management can be taken. For example, we can use our energy management system to set up measures to reduce energy consumption, albeit always in consultation and collaboration with the customer.
Bruno Decraene: “During the consultations, all sorts of ideas for saving energy were discussed. Digital Building Solutions then converts these ideas into an action plan and makes an estimate of the savings. They look at how to measure and report in the best way… and that process is always well substantiated and summed up in a concrete proposal. This approach is bearing fruit, and our installations are becoming increasingly efficient.”
The long-term partnership creates added value. Thanks to weekly contact moments and a quarterly energy meeting, ideas grow that are tested, verified and adjusted in the short term.
A good growth trajectory for both parties who are extremely satisfied with the collaboration.
Deployment: optimised functioning of the technical installations
"It's a pleasure to collaborate with professionals who think along about the most suitable solutions."
Christa Jackson, Steelforce
Steelforce is a Belgian metal trading company with various foreign branches worldwide. As a company, Steelforce places great value on integrity, service, and craftsmanship, and also appreciates these qualities in its partners. The collaboration went extremely smoothly, partly due to this shared mindset.
Renovating while preserving heritage character
During the total renovation of the office building near Meir in Antwerp, the protected facade remained largely unchanged.
Through the intelligent renovation of the existing building with heat pump systems, recovery of ventilation air, solar panels, and a heat pump boiler, a focus is placed on sustainable energy usage.
Equally important for the client is that employees in the building can work in an optimal, tranquil environment. The symbiosis of state-of-the-art techniques, authenticity, and abundant greenery makes this a successful mission.
Sustainable partnership with the contractor
The electrical work was carried out by Elektro Kamiel Smet on behalf of the contractor De Tender.
"The collaboration within the construction team proceeded very smoothly. Due to mutual respect and trust between the contractors, a pleasant atmosphere always prevailed in the meetings."
Gino De Bock, project leader

Our offer – Medical products:
We have various medical products in our range and are also the exclusive distributor of KLS Martin, Ondal, LedTailor and Amico.
EEG Group stands for sustainable business operations and a sustainable approach to all elements that play a role in our continuity:
Our support services keep our projects running smoothly—from buyers and recruiters to accountants and planners.
The new capacity tariff only affects the network tariff that you pay as an organisation. This means the costs of electricity transmission, installation, use and maintenance of the electricity grid. You pay this to the distribution system operator via your energy supplier.
October 2022 | October 2023* | |
Energy costs | 103000 | 206000 |
Network tariff | 10300 | 17300 |
Federal contributions | 6000 | 6000 |
Regional contributions | 160 | 160 |
Total invoice | 119460 | 229460 |
Today, the network tariff is calculated partly on the basis of consumption (kWh) and partly on the basis of power or capacity (kW). From January 2023, the full cost will only be based on your peak consumption. As always, the surcharges in the network tariffs are, like the price of energy and taxes, based on consumption. In other words, the capacity tariff affects only one component of the invoice.
The capacity tariff is only a small part of the energy bill; energy consumption is still the main component. From our simulation we have seen that it is better to set the access capacity a little too high than too low.
If you anticipate that the consumed capacities will increase (e.g. installation of an additional chiller), you must increase the access capacity in good time in order to avoid the excess tariff for 12 months. An increase in access capacity can be arranged monthly, a reduction only once a year.
Understanding and controlling your peak power will become increasingly important in the future. That is why it is important to include this in your energy management right now.
* Estimate based on the insights from November 2022. Taking into account the average energy price of 400 EUR/MWh. In the calculation, it was assumed that the access capacity was set correctly.
From 1 January 2023, the capacity tariff will start in Flanders. The network operator wants to prevent peak consumption and spread electricity consumption in this way. But what does it mean for a hospital?
This is thanks to a data-driven approach to building management and maintenance, and a specially established service called 'Facility Management'.
EEG Group has developed expertise in creating designs entirely in BIM (Building Information Modeling), and modular construction, where more and more elements are prefabricated in their own workshop, is a strategy that contributes to efficient cost management.
It is the intention of EEG Group to help businesses and organizations save on energy and costs.
The building has a total area of 29,400 m² and spans 6 floors with laboratories, offices, rooms, etc.
This is a multi-T project where, in collaboration with the EEG Group, we were responsible for the execution of the electrical installation, plumbing, ventilation, and medical gases.
The works were carried out in a temporary partnership with VMA Nizet / VMA Druart.

First, the various energy flows were mapped (energy monitoring). During the energy meetings, the reports were discussed and actions were determined to reduce CO2 emissions (energy management).
Thanks to open and transparent communication and the pooling of expertise of EEG and AZ Alma, action could be taken quickly and adjusted where necessary. This resulted in a reduction in energy costs of approximately €185,000 in 2022 and an expected saving of €440,000 (compared to 2020) in 2023. This saving was also achieved without additional investments.

In the fall of 2023, a modular construction was completed at Heilig Hart Hospital in Lier. The high-tech building accommodates a completely new intensive care department with 16 units on the first floor. On the second floor, there is an operating theater with 4 operating rooms, including 1 hybrid operating room, 13 recovery beds, and 3 recovery units for children. The third floor is designated as a technical space.
This design & build project was carried out in collaboration with construction partner Wycor. The project was fully designed in BIM. The installation of all the technical systems posed a significant challenge here, given the limited installation height of 30 cm in the false ceiling on the first floor.
A remarkable demonstration of craftsmanship from our branches!
