Jan Yperman

For the Jan Yperman Hospital, two multi-T projects have been completed: the K-block in Ypres with new departments for child psychiatry, geriatrics, and dialysis, and the transformation of an old swimming pool in Diksmuide into a medical center with dialysis and radiology facilities. Both projects involved complex installations and tight schedules managed by various branches including EEG Gullegem, EEG Sint-Martens-Latem, Beltherm, and Heyer.

Two multi-T projects were completed for the Jan Yperman Hospital.

On the main campus in Ypres, the construction of the K-block was realized. This building includes the new child psychiatry department 'Twoape', the geriatrics department relocating from Wervik, and the dialysis department. The latter replaces the existing outdated dialysis unit and comprises 40 zones.

During the preliminary phase, strong emphasis was placed on coordination and BIM across various branches, positively impacting project productivity. The installation itself features a new boiler room, 2 air handling units, one ALSB, and 5 distribution boards, one of which is dedicated to dialysis with 34 isolation transformers.

During execution, Jan Yperman placed an order for the multi-technical project in Diksmuide. Here, the old swimming pool was transformed into a medical center with a dialysis department (14 zones) and radiology. This project started from scratch with concept studies (bill of quantities, plans, diagrams, etc.), ultimately delivering the project in a 7-month period. It showcased remarkable coordination, communication, and planning, especially considering the technical challenges of converting an old swimming pool. For instance, the 2 air handling units, boiler room, and emergency power group were installed beneath the existing pool basin. Additionally, a high-voltage cabin and 2 cooling units were installed to provide necessary electrical power and heating/cooling capacities.

This multi-T project involved EEG Gullegem, EEG Sint-Martens-Latem, Beltherm, and Heyer branches.
